The following list details the 25 most valuable United States quarters minted from the late 1800's to the current date (Updated 2021). This list is intended to be used by coin collectors as a tool to score some great coins at antique shops and maybe even estate sales. The 2004-P Iowa quarter is one of the scarcest circulating 50 State Quarters — the second rarest of the copper-nickel clad business-strikes. While they're much more difficult to locate than the other state quarters, they're still worth only face value in worn condition, though uncirculated examples are worth about $1.25 or more. State Quarters State quarters were issued between 1999 and 2008, these are very popular with collectors, but not worth much in terms of intrinsic value. Current silver melt value. for a pre 1965 coin (90% Silver) is $4.83 and this price is based off the current silver spot price of $26.74 This value is dynamic so bookmark it and comeback for an up to the minute silver melt value. The standard 1776-1976 clad quarters in circulated condition are only worth their face value of $0.25. These coins only sell for a premium in uncirculated condition. The 1776-1976 quarter with no mint mark and the 1776-1976 D quarter are each worth around $1.25 in uncirculated condition with an MS 63 grade.

While San Francisco returned to minting Barber quarters in 1911 after a short hiatus in 1910, the overall production of quarters in 1911 was rather small as compared to virtually year in the series during the first decade of the 20th century. All told, less than 6 million Barber quarters were made in 1911, and, of course, far fewer remain today than when they were made.

Here's a look at the mintages and values of 1911 Barber quarters:

  • 1911 – 3,720,000; $13

  • 1911-D – 933,600; $16

  • 1911-S – 988,000; $15

  • 1911 proof – 543; $850

*Values are for coins in a grade of Good-4, unless otherwise noted.

Overall, the figures above tell a story of scarcity from the quarters minted at the Denver and San Francisco mints. Less than 1 million quarters were made at either of the two branch mints. Surprisingly, values are prohibitive, at least in the lower grades, for quarters from Denver and San Francisco mints. This may have something to do with the fact that relatively few people today attempt collecting the entire Barber quarter series, which means there are plenty of good deals to be had out there among numismatists who do. Buy the best you can afford, and you may not be sorry down the line.
